EYE is a group of inspired youth from the Bellingen Shire in New South Wales, Australia, who have a passion for our planet. We aim to strengthen the connections between youth and the natural world, while becoming empowered to lead the way to a more environmentally sustainable future.
EYE youth and mentors work together to provide adventurous and enlightening nature camps and leadershiptraining, run projects and campaigns, and participate in Landcare.

Inspired by the recent weekend compost making workshop, and keen to give our new garden beds a boost, we got stuck-in to make our own hot compost pile.
This is different to the cold compost piles and worm farm that we already have working hard to break down our scraps and produce fertility for our garden. The “hot” compost will create a perfect environment for billions of organisms to grow & turn our raw materials into rich soil full of life! We used a layered method to get the right mix of carbon and nitrogen… and now we just need to let it “cook” for a while, before turning …
We FROZE this town!! Over 70 people turned up for our Plastic Bag Free action on Saturday – all of whom participated in a mass 5 minute freeze on the main street of Bellingen, holding signs that said “we want a plastic bag free town and state!” It was awesome! Thanks to Steve Coates and his video camera, and Vishnu and his editing skills, we now have a great YouTube video about it.
With our new shed built we moved our tools over from the agriculture compound to their new homes.
Over the pizza oven dome, built during our weekend workshop, we slapped on the first layer of render. Everyone helped at some point in the process from making the rendering mixture to lumping it on to the dome, spreading and smoothing it out.
