Things are really starting to happen & flow in the world of Bellingen EYE !
As many of you know from being actively involved, every Monday afternoon from 4pm to 5.30pm we have a fun activity at EYE @ the Hub, everyone very welcome. Next week we’ll be making something yummy with very local food – without giving too much away, I can’t resist telling you that this will likely involve some mangoes. On the following Monday the 18th of March at the Hub, John Pile, (aka Koala Man), will be giving a talk about Koalas, their habitat and the threats they face. On Saturday the 23rd of March John will guide a ‘Spot (or hear) the Koala Walk’ for anyone interested. Have a look at the attached calendar & flier for each Monday activity for Term 1.
Other exciting EYE happenings include a Landcare Working Bee on Sunday the 17th of March. Meet at the Point at 10 am, work will finish at 12 noon.
We are looking for a mentor or parent keen to support this activity by going along to it, so if that could be you, please get in touch and let me know.
We are also working on organising a Mining Awareness day excursion (for Leadership Group members only) on Saturday the 6th of April. The plan is to leave Bellingen at 9 am, visit a local antimony mining site and learn about the related issues; back by 2 pm.
Finally, and I know that this is something you all are waiting for, we have set a date for the first EYE camps for the year: the 3rd to 5th of May – a Leadership Camp for Year 9 and up; and 14th to 16th of June for the first jEYE camp (Year 7 and up)! Yay! Yepee! Please put this date in your diaries, update on locations forthcoming.
So that’s all for now folks.
Looking forward to seeing those who can make it next Monday for ‘EYE @ the HUB’ from 4 p.m. !

The EYE Leadership group spend a lovely weekend in Gleniffer. We brainstormed, visioned, swam, ate had stacks of fun, but most importantly we came up with a plan for 2013! Stay tuned for more info soon. Check out some photos in the gallery.]]>
Please come along on Sunday, 2 September to No. 5 Church Street at 6:00 pm. They are putting on a big veggie feast for us, $18 a person. Adults definitely welcome – in fact, needed! Then depending on how many we are, we will either have our big brainstorm session at No 5 or move up to the Environment Centre.
Claire will be leading some of those famous EYE games from 4:30 on the north side of the river, so anyone that wants to get in the EYE mood early can meet her there.
Please RSVP as soon as you can so we can tell No 5 how many to expect! And remember the EYE guiding principal – “youth led, adult guided” …..so we want and need input from both of those groups in order to move into a successful future together. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring/text 0423 362 844 to let us know you are coming.
