I have a dream…

Bellingen EYE invites you to apply for our third annual EYE Leadership Camp: ‘I have a dream…’ It was Martin Luther King who made this quote famous, with his passion for making the world a better place. At the EYE Leadership Camp 2011, we will apply this quote to our personal passions and ambitions for wanting to create a more sustainable future. We will be exploring different concepts of personal leadership through discussion, games, creativity, and being in the bush. Inspiring mentors will share their experience and insight, and as usual we will learn heaps from each other and just have amazing amounts of fun.

The camp will be held from Tuesday to Friday, 25-28 January – 4 days and 3 nights at Mt. Hyland Retreat (www.mt-hyland.com), about 1 ½ hours drive from Bellingen. The cost of the camp is $250, which includes transportation, lodging in comfy beds, all meals, tuition, and learning materials. We also have a scholarship fund for anyone who needs it, as it is our firm policy that no one should miss out on a camp due to financial reasons. (The scholarship application process is carried out under strict confidentiality.)

Our Leadership Camp is open to anyone, and we especially encourage new people to apply! However, we can only take 30 participants, and you need to be in Year 9 or older to apply. Priority will be given to senior students (Year 11+), but there will be a number of places held for younger applicants (Years 9 and 10) as well.

We have a new registration procedure this year, so please read all the instructions!

  • (1) Please fill out the 4 page application form which can be downloaded below. It consists of necessary personal details, and four important questions for you to answer. We welcome thoughtful and creative answers! You need to send this application form in by WEDNESDAY, 12 JANUARY. Each application will be anonymously reviewed by the Leadership Camp planning group. The main criteria for acceptance are age and thoughtfulness of answers. If it comes down to a tie, the applicant who got their registration back to us first will receive the place – so it is worthwhile getting your forms in ASAP!
  • (2) We will let you know on FRIDAY JANUARY 14 whether you have a place or not.
  • (3) Payment is due in by WEDNESDAY, 19 JANUARY.

If you don’t have email, you can post it or drop it to: Bellingen EYE, c/o Bellingen Environment Centre, 4/1 Church Street Lane, Bellingen NSW 2454. (Note: we do need real parent signatures – so you scan the forms and email them, or just email the answers to the questions and drop the signed forms in to the Environment Centre later).
