Inspired by the recent weekend compost making workshop, and keen to give our new garden beds a boost, we got stuck-in to make our own hot compost pile.
This is different to the cold compost piles and worm farm that we already have working hard to break down our scraps and produce fertility for our garden. The “hot” compost will create a perfect environment for billions of organisms to grow & turn our raw materials into rich soil full of life! We used a layered method to get the right mix of carbon and nitrogen… and now we just need to let it “cook” for a while, before turning the pile to make sure it “cooks” evenly.
In the mean time, we have emptied the sand mold from inside our pizza oven, so it will be ready to cook pizzas very shortly!
